3 C3P0 Quotes That Can Help You Share Your Faith

3-C3P0-Quotes

Who knew that a droid could help us share our faith?

For those of us that were first introduced to C3PO’s prissy voice and complaining through the original trilogy, came to realize that he often said things that we wished we could.

He had a unique view on what was happening in the Star Wars universe. When the prequels arrived and we saw that he was created by Anakin, some of his whininess made sense.

He has since been labeled an ISTF or Protector in the Myers-Briggs inventory.

As an Introvert myself (ISTJ or Inspector), I was happy to see that C3PO was able to “witness” to others.

Often in our churches we are told we need to be outgoing, gregarious, etc. in order to be a witness to others.

That is nonsense.

God created all the personality types that exist and each has its place. For those that related to introversion, rejoice! We, like C3PO can witness within our personality type.

Thank Your Maker

In A New Hope, C3PO goes through a lot leading up to being sold back to Owen Lars.

He has survived an Imperial attack, crashed landed on a back-world planet, been separated from his counter part, been “kidnapped”, and now sold into slavery.

Even with all that, he is still able to thank and praise his maker.

[Tweet “Thank the maker!”]

What does he thank the maker for? An oil bath.

For him, “this oil bath is going to feel so good. I’ve got such a bad case of dust contamination, I can barely move!”

Even within a bad situation, he can still find something to praise his maker about.

We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Remember also that Psalm 121:2 tells us “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

The Silliness of Human Behavior

Humans are weird.

We have a tendency to do things that just do not make sense.

We spend a whole day giving thanks, and then get up from the table and go fight people for the latest gaming console or HDTV

We also spend our lives trying to prove that we can do life on our own. We pride ourselves on what “we can do“.

The truth of the matter is that we can do nothing apart from what God allows us to do.

In John 15:5 we are told by Jesus that “apart from me you can do nothing.”

Isaiah 55:8 reminds us that “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.”

[Tweet “Oh! Sometimes I just don’t understand human behavior.”]

So the next time someone brags about what they can do, remind them that they are able to do what it is that they do because God allows it.

We Are Not God

One reason why our world is so messed up is that humanity does not have an accurate view of themselves.

As a whole, humanity believes themselves to be above all things and capable of doing whatever we put our minds to.

We think we can solve the problems of our society on our own.

We try and solve poverty, fight terrorism, claim to be both the cause and cure for changes in the climate, etc.

We have made ourselves gods.

C3P0 knew that he shouldn’t claim to be something he wasn’t. We should take a page out of his book.

[Tweet “It’s against my programming to impersonate a deity.”]

We are not God.

We are the pinnacle of creation, be we are not the Creator.

The sooner we realize that and ask forgiveness for our arrogance, the better things will get.

So stop pretending you are a god, you’re not.
