In ANH, after Luke has insulted his beloved Millennium Falcon, Han replies to Luke with, “She’ll make point five beyond the speed of light. She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts, kid. I’ve added some special modifications myself.”
The Falcon was Han’s cherished possession. It was something that he had invested a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to make better. He was not about to let anyone disrespect the Falcon.
In 1 John, the Apostle John is writing to beloved believers and addresses many concerns and issues for them.
In chapter four, John is talking to them about the various false prophets that are in the world. In 1 John 4:2b, he announced, “every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.”
In the first part of verse 4, John wanted these believers to know that they were loved by Jesus and that “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them[the false prophets].”
John moves quickly from denouncing false prophets to then proclaiming the specialness of the believers. In 1 John 4:4b, John encourages them by saying, “for He [the Holy Spirit] who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
God has made some special modifications to us. Through faith and trust in Jesus, God has made us right with Him.
As believers, our hearts have been remade. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
When we, like David, pray what he did in Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” God hears that prayer and will clean our hearts.
We are so valuable to God that He sent Jesus to die for us.
We need to remember this and not disparage others.
