Comparing the Holy Spirit and the Force
Acting on faith rewarded
The Holy Spirit: God rewards those that earnestly seek him: Hebrews 11:6
Rewards for perseverance: James 1:12
Asking, seeking, knocking: Matthew 7:7
The Force: “This time, let go your conscious self and act on instinct. “
“With the blast shield down, I can’t even see. How am I supposed to fight?”
“Your eyes can deceive you. Don’t trust them.”
Eternally with you
The Holy Spirit: Jesus will be with believers to the end of the age: Matthew 28:20
If you are in Christ you will always have the Spirit: Romans 8:9-11
The Force: “They must be delivered safely or other star systems will suffer the same fate as Alderaan. Your destiny lies along a different path than mine. The Force will be with you…always!”
Able to give premonitions or visions
The Holy Spirit: Dreams and visions: Joel 2:28-29
Stephen’s vision of heaven: Acts 7:55
The Force: “A tremor in the Force. The last time I felt it was in the presence of my old master.”
Ability to help people endure suffering or to be kept alive
The Holy Spirit: Apostle Paul and his sufferings: 2 Corinthians 11:16-33, Philippians 4:12-13
The Force: “Surely he must be dead by now.”
“Don’t underestimate the Force.”
With some one as the are near the end of their life
The Holy Spirit: Life and death of Samson: Judges 16:23-31
The Force: “Obi-Wan is here. The Force is with him.”
Able to be manipulated to further your work
The Holy Spirit: Can’t be bought or manipulated: Acts 8:19-20
The Force: Obi-Wan gestures with his hand toward them, as the troops think they hear something in the other hallway. With the help of the Force, he slips past the troopers and into the main hallway.
Used as a blessing or good luck charm
The Holy Spirit: “God bless you”
The Force: “Man your ships! And may the Force be with you!”
“Hey, Luke…may the Force be with you! Luke turns and sees Han wink at him. Luke lifts his hand in a small wave and then goes off.”
Calling to trust in something larger than yourself
The Holy Spirit: Jesus promises the Holy Spirit: John 14:15-17
Holy Spirit will bring power: Acts 1:8
The Force: “Use the Force, Luke.”
Others can see or sense your level
The Holy Spirit: Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Galatians 5:22-23
The Force: “The Force is strong with this one!”
Eternally with you
The Holy Spirit: Jesus will be with believers to the end of the age: Matthew 28:20
If you are in Christ you will always have the Spirit: Romans 8:9-11
The Force: “Remember, the Force will be with you…always.”
