“I need a weapon!” “You have one!”

During the First Orders attack on Maz’s place, Finn cries out that he needs a weapon.

Maz replies, “You have one!” referring to the lightsaber he is holding. Finn did not realize the power he held in his hands.

We are often like Finn. We are in a situation and think we need a weapon or something to help us out.

What we need, and have, is Scripture.

Like the Psalmist in Psalm 119:11, we need to be able to say, “I have stored up Your word [Scripture] in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

In Matthew 4:1-11, when Jesus was being tested, tempted, and attacked by Satan, the battle took place using Scripture.

From the moment Jesus was first tempted to turn stones to bread, He refuted Satan by quoting Deuteronomy 8:3.

When tempted to jump off the pinnacle of the temple, Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 6:16.

When tempted to worship Satan, Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 6:13 to silence him.

If we realize the power we have in our hands, whether it is a Bible app or the actual printed Scriptures, we can stand firm.

When we are in a conversation or debate with someone, we need to remember what Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man [or woman] of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

So remember, Christian, we are all equipped with the only weapon we will ever need, per Ephesians 6:17, the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
