Jyn, Cassian, and Gideon’s 300

As Jyn and her assault team are about to land on Scarif, she gives them a pep talk to get them ready.

Cassian gives them the tactical plans for their attack and he tells them to “make ten men feel like a hundred.”

Make Ten Men Feel Like a Hundred on Disney Video

There we close to 20 people plus K2-SO on the assault team and they lived out Cassian’s challenge to make each man feel like they were ten men.

The Star Wars universe is full of small bands of people fighting back and winning against overwhelming odds.

Judges chapters six through seven we read the account of how Gideon, the least in his family and his clan was the weakest in Manasseh (6:15) was called by the LORD to be used to strike down the Midianites that the LORD hand put over Israel.

In Judges 7:2 we read “The LORD said to Gideon, ‘The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.” So it was announced that anyone who was fearful or trembling could return home. Of the 32,000 that we there at the start, only 10,000 remained.

That was still too many according to the LORD. Then to get the number of men even lower, the LORD chose the 300 men who lapped when they drank their water.

The LORD was able to do 100 times what Jyn’s team did. Her 20 fought like 2,000 but the LORD’s 300 fought like 32,000.

That is the business the LORD is in, doing more than people can imagine. We see it with Gideon and his men and we see it in a more peaceful scene when Jesus feeds 5,000 with a small boys lunch, as told in Matthew 14:13-21.

When we give what we have to the LORD, for His service, He will bless it and use it in mighty ways.

What can we give Him today?

Join with Me to Spread the Gospel

This post is a modified version of a devotional from my upcoming devotional book.

As millions of kids, teens, and young adults face a world that is rapidly removing any trace of Judeo-Christian values from the culture, there is still hope to reach them.

The Gospel is for all people and throughout all time.

You can help the next generation learn about the Gospel by using Star Wars.

There are valuable lessons that can be learned from Star Wars. My devotional book looks at the live-action Star Wars movies (Episodes I to IX, Rogue One, and Solo) and pull out different lessons and take-a-ways.

If you wish to join me in using Star Wars to share the faith, please consider purchasing the daily devotion I am published in November 2019.

Excellent analogy! That had not even occurred to me when I saw the movie- but it should have!!! And I really liked that you made the connection not only to Gideon but
also to Jesus and his more peaceful use!!!

Steve, I am reminded of Ecclesiastes 1:9, “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.”
