The Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded

As Luke and Obi-Wan arrive in Mos Eisley with C3PO and R2D2, stormtroopers stop them.

Obi-Wan uses the Force to influence the lead trooper to send Luke and company on their way. A short time later, Luke comments to Obi-Wan that he cannot understand how they got past the troopers.

Obi-Wan explained to Luke that “the Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded.”

Just as the Force was able to trick the weak-minded troopers, it could also provide insight to Jedi.

The Holy Spirit is not the Force, and the Force is not the Holy Spirit. However, the working of the Holy Spirit at times seems to be like the Force.

In Acts 4, Peter and John were before the “rulers and elders and scribes” (verse 5) because they had been preaching the Gospel.

Acts 4:13a records, “Now when they [the rulers and elders] saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished.”

Why were the rulers and elders astonished?

Uneducated men were presenting a reasonable and well-thought-out message.

How is this possible? Through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit took uneducated (weak-minded) men and changed the world through their preaching, teaching, and writing.

When we become believers, we, like the Apostles, receive the Holy Spirit. He then provides us with spiritual gifts that will enable us to do and say things that we were incapable of saying or doing before.

As 1 Corinthians 1:25 tells us, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” We might be considered weak-minded, but that is because non-believers fail to see God’s wisdom.
