As the Rebels attack the Death Star, Darth Vader and two hand-selected TIE pilots go out to destroy the Rebels, ship by ship.
After Vader quickly destroys some Rebel ships, he sets his sights on Luke’s X-Wing. As Luke jostles his X-Wing to keep it out of Vader’s kill zone, Vader comments, “The Force is strong with this one!”
As a Sith Lord, Vader is sensitive to the Force and any concentration of it. He has a connection to it.
As believers, we have a connection with God because the Holy Spirit resides in us (1 Corinthians 3:16).
Are our lives and our connection with God evident?
In Matthew 7:16a, Jesus tells His disciples that “[y]ou will recognize them by their fruits.”
Paul tells us in Galatians 5:22-23 that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
Are we able to love our enemies as Jesus commanded up in Matthew 5:43-48 and Luke 6:27-36?
Are we able to be filled with joy when we face trials of many kinds, as James talks about in James 1:2?
Are we able to rest in “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,” as Paul mentions in Philippians 4:7?
Are we patient and wait upon the Lord as Isaiah 40:31 says?
Do we show kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control as well?
We know that confessing Jesus as Lord makes us a believer (Romans 10:9-10), and the work of the Holy Spirit begins. We do need to make sure that fruit is being produced. Otherwise, we need to reevaluate our relationship with God.
