Where do we draw strength from? For Jedi, they draw their strength from the Force.
As Obi-Wan told Luke, “the Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”
But what about us?
Where or from Whom should a Christian draw strength?
We have been taught by the Church that God is our strength since our earliest years.
But what does that mean? How does God provide strength to us in our time of need?
We first need to know who God is.
We cannot and should not confuse the created with the Creator.
While the Force is “an energy field created by all living things,” God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, has existed since before space, time, energy, and matter were created.
According to Genesis 1:1 God is there before the beginning of the world since He began creation.
In Colossians 1:17 we are told that Jesus, the Son, “is before all things.”
And finally, we are told in Hebrews 9:14 that the Holy Spirit is eternal.
Why does it matter that God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is eternal?
What comfort can you then take from John 3:16 and 2 Peter 3:8-9?
If God, the three in One, is NOT eternal, then Scripture lies to us, and we are of all people most to be pitied.
But take heart, God is eternal, Scripture is true, and we can draw strength from the One who created the universe.
