Uncluttering Our Communication Lines With God

While chasing down Princess Leia, Han, Chewie, and the droids through an asteroid field, the Imperial ships are taking damage and unable to clearly communicate.

When Admiral Piett informs Darth Vader that “The Emperor commands you to make contact with him.” Vader instructs him to “Move the ship out of the asteroid field so that we can send a clear transmission.”

While God will never command you to make contact with Him (but we are to be praying continually per 1 Thessalonians 5:17), this scene shows that we need to remove things from our lives that clutter up the communication lines we have with God.

James 4:3 warns us that when we “ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.”

When we know the will of God for a situation, it is disobedience to continue to pray for God’s will regarding that situation. This disobedience will hinder our prayers per 1 John 3:21-22.

When we ask for things outside of God’s will, He will not answer Yes to those prayers, per 1 John 5:14-15.

The good news is, that as believers in Jesus who have put our faith and trust in Him, we can, according to Hebrews 4:16, “then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

We can know His will if we, per Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

We then can find peace in Philippians 4:6 where we are told, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Join with Me to Spread the Gospel

This post is a modified version of a devotional from my upcoming devotional book.

As millions of kids, teens, and young adults face a world that is rapidly removing any trace of Judeo-Christian values from the culture, there is still hope to reach them.

The Gospel is for all people and throughout all time.

You can help the next generation learn about the Gospel by using Star Wars.

There are valuable lessons that can be learned from Star Wars. My devotional book looks at the live-action Star Wars movies (Episodes I to IX, Rogue One, and Solo) and pull out different lessons and take-a-ways.

If you wish to join me in using Star Wars to share the faith, please consider purchasing the daily devotion I am published in November 2019.

      Thanks, Steve.

Jesus used parables and stories so why shouldn’t we. All good movies are strong stories with transformational truths in them.
