Early on in Rogue One, Director Krennic tracked down Galen Erso to the planet he and his family have been hiding on.
When asked why Krennic is there, Krennic tells Galen it is because the Death Star work has stalled.
Krennic tells him, “We were on the verge of greatness. We were this close to providing peace and security for the galaxy.”
To which Galen replies, “You’re confusing peace with terror.”
Krennic cooly states, “Well, you have to start somewhere.”
Krennic had a vision and pursued it with everything he had, even though his vision is to be condemned.
His commitment level is to be envied. What if we were as committed as Krennic was but committed to God?
Could we be like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as they were about to be thrown into a fiery furnace? They stayed committed to worshipping God alone. We read what they said to the king in Daniel 3:17-18. “If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
That is commitment.
The early believers were also committed. Acts 2:42 records that “they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
They were so committed that they sold “their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need” (verse 45).
What will we do today that will show our commitment to God?
