Will he finish what he begins

“Will he finish what he begins?”

Yoda’s question concerning Luke’s commitment is a good one for us to contemplate.

Many of us start things and never finish them. Why?

Most of the things we do not finish are because we either did not make it a habit or we lost sight of why we were doing them.

In other words, we lost our F.O.C.U.S. We do not Follow One Course of action Until Success.

We have made it a habit to start projects, but have we made it a practice to finish?

Habits require repetition. When we begin a new habit, it starts because we do that action day after day, night after night, like brushing our teeth.

When we lose our “why” we let things end prematurely. We lose our motivation and go with “good enough” instead of completed.

To finish, we need to be selective in what we plan on doing. We need to schedule our time and energy and we write out why we are doing it. We can then track what we have done, celebrate small wins on our way to our deadline.

Remember that Qui-Gon told a young Anakin “Your focus determines your reality.”

God is not done with us. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that we can be “confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Thankfully our Heavenly Father does not lack focus. He is One who completes what He starts.

God will never leave us or forsake us.

Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” (emphasis added)

In Matthew 28:20b Jesus tells His disciples “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
