Acting on faith, Luke eventually agrees to do as Obi-Wan instructed, but first, he whines that “With the blast shield down, I can’t even see.”
Luke then tries practicing against the remote with the helmet’s blast shield down.
After getting zapped a few times, Luke is able to deflect the next series of shots.
Luke was being taught to let go of his conscious self (his natural abilities) and rely on the Force.
We too need to let go of our natural ways of doing things and learn to walk in faith.
Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 that “for we [Christians] walk by faith, not by sight.”
What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 tells us that “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
What are things in our life that we put our faith and trust in that are limiting our growth in our faith?
Our own might and strength? If so, see Psalm 20:7.
Our own intelligence? If so, see Proverbs 3:5-6.
How about putting our faith more in Jesus?
According to Hebrews 12:1b-2, “let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Jesus says in John 14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”
Let go of what we want and listen attentively to hear what God is calling us to do. He has good works ready for us to do, read Ephesians 2:10.
