In A New Hope, Obi-Wan is training Luke aboard the Falcon. Luke begins to feel the Force in his life.
Han scoffs at the existence of the Force to which Luke replies, “You don’t believe in the Force, do you?”
Luke could not understand how Han could not believe in the Force since Luke had just experienced the Force.
As believers who have experienced God in our lives, it is hard for us to believe that people doubt the existence of God.
People do not draw near to God because of a lack of faith as Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. ”
We need to ask people about their beliefs, but not in an accusatory tone like Luke did.
When we begin a conversation with someone regarding their beliefs in God and in Jesus, we need to respect their answers and where they are.
We do not want them to stay ignorant, but we cannot bring about salvation. Salvation is the work of God through the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 1:8-9).
We are to be like the farmer in Matthew 13:4-8, “as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
God makes the plant or hearer grow. We are to spread the seed, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
How can we do that today?
