Your weapon, you will not need it.

As Luke trained with Yoda in ESB, they end their training one day by an old tree near a cave.

Luke notices that it is a cold place, not just physically but also cold or dark in the Force.

After being told by Yoda that he must go inside it, Luke fastens his belt around his waist. On the belt are his blaster and lightsaber. Yoda informs Luke, “Your weapon, you will not need it.”

Nonetheless, Luke takes his weapons with him as he enters the cave.

As believers, the only offensive weapon mentioned in Paul’s description of the armor of God is “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17b).

We will always need the Bible.

Today, we can have access to the Bible through our smartphones or tablets. This is truly a wonderful use of technology.

We should try to be like the psalmist who said in Psalm 119:11, “I have stored up Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

We need to fill our minds and souls with what Paul said in Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable,

if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

If we are filling our hearts and minds with Scripture, that is what will flow out of us.

Jesus reminded us in Matthew 12:34b, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

Will we start to memorize Scripture today?
