Jyn Erso tells those in the U-Wing, “We can beat the people who did this. My father’s message, I’ve seen it. They call it the Death Star. But they have no idea there’s a way to defeat it.”
Like the Empire, those seeking evil are often brought down by something small (almost insignificant) or because they do not fully understand what is happening.
Can you imagine Jesus saying to the disciples, “I can beat the problem that humanity is facing. My father’s message is that He sent Me to take on the sin of the world, die, and on the third day, be resurrected. Satan has no idea that he is helping to bring about his destruction and the destruction of death and sin.”
The disciples would not have known what to do with that proclamation since they missed many statements that Jesus made about why He was on the earth.
While it is easy to see what Jesus was doing, we need to give the disciples a little grace in hindsight.
They were in the midst of things and could not see the bigger picture.
God knew from the beginning of time what would happen to humanity and what it would take to redeem humanity.
Romans 8:29-30 tells us, “For those whom He [God] foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He [Christ] might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom He [God] predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified.”
Galen was forced to develop the Death Star.
God’s love for His creation had Him send Jesus into the world to save it (John 3:16).
Tarkin and Krennic believed they had an indestructible weapon, but they were wrong and paid dearly for it.
Satan thought he won when Jesus died on the cross, but it was he who lost, and he will pay dearly for it for eternity.
