Did you know that most New Year’s resolutions will fail in 6 weeks?
That means we are about halfway there. So if you are still working on your resolution, that puts you in the 20% of people that make New Year’s resolutions and keep them (so far).
Why I Don’t Make New Year’s Resolutions
The only New Year’s resolution I make is NOT to make them. I would always fall into the 80% of people that quit within that 6 week period.
Almost two years ago I decided to do smaller goal setting periods- 90 days- and I found more success in doing these sprints.
If I didn’t hit a goal, I would restart things with another 90-day sprint.
What Goals Do You Have?
Do you have goals? Are you striving towards something?
Or are you wandering through life just trying to make it through, one day at a time?
I would highly recommend that you take the time to set a few goals. 90-Day goals.
My 7 Areas Of Goal Setting
I use the 7 goal-setting categories I learned from Dan Miller of 48Days.com fame.
- Career
- Family
- Financial
- Personal
- Physical
- Social
- Spiritual
I define 2-3 things I want to improve (that I can measure) for each area listed.
I then track things for 90 days and then reset.
The Choice Is Yours
If you want to improve your life, you will need to do things differently than you do now.
If you don’t change any of your habits, you will stay the same.
If you want to have a quiet time with God, share your faith with others, or want to read Scripture more, I invite you to buy The Christian Jedi: A Daily Devotional. There are 365 devotions that take 2-4 minutes to read, will provide a way to talk about your faith, and in the Appendix, there are Scripture reading plans.
