The Greatest Gift of All

What is the greatest gift you’ve ever received?

For me, I think back to toys I got as a kid. I remember getting a Godzilla and a Chewbacca action figure.

As I got older, the more I valued personal gifts. The thought behind the gift became something I truly appreciated, even if the gift was something I did not particularly want.

But when I truly think things through, the greatest gift that I received was when I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

For all of us, the greatest gift of all is when God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth. The problem is, not everyone has accepted that Gift, yet.

The Greatest Gift of All

John 3:16-17 (ESV) tells us “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

In the Gospel of Luke (ESV), chapter 2 (selected verses) we read how this came to pass.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world…So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “ Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

…So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Sharing Jesus With The World

This is the one time of the year when people are more open to hearing about Jesus since we are celebrating Christmas

I think that it is time we share Jesus year-round.

For many, it is tough to know how to start the conversation. That is one reason why I wrote The Christian Jedi: A Daily Devotional.

I truly believe that more people in the world know about Star Wars than about the parables and teachings of Jesus.

The devotional was written to help take people familiar with Star Wars and show them how it relates to Scriptural truth.

So if you have a Star Wars fan in your life, consider buying them the devotional so they can come to Jesus.

Or consider buying it for yourself, so that you can dive into God’s Word each day. Then as people talk about Star Ways, there is a new movie out this month, you can direct the conversation to the Gospel

The Best Gift We Can Give

The best gift anyone can give this Christmas is to share the Gospel with a non-believer.

There is no time like the present to present the Gospel message. Our world is hurting and only Jesus can heal it.

Please do not keep from sharing because you feel that you lack words to say. Share what Jesus has done for you and how He said you.

Merry CHRISTMAS!
