After finding his Aunt and Uncle dead, Luke returns to Ben and tells him âI want to come with you to Alderaan. There’s nothing here for me now. I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father.â
Luke no longer had ties to Tatooine and wanted to leave it behind and move on, making the biggest decision in his young life.
People today need to come to the realization that they are missing something.
That something is forgiveness and faith in God. To receive forgiveness they need to become a follower of Jesus, through faith as Ephesians 2:8 tells us “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God”.
As the old saying goes, God has no grandchildren, only children. Each new generation needs to be taught the ways of God.
The Most Quoted Bible Verse
The most quoted Bible verse is not John 3:16 but Deuteronomy 6:4-6.
âThe Shemaâ is taken from the first words of Deuteronomy 6:4 (listen in Hebrew is shema) and combined with Deuteronomy 11:13-21 and Numbers 15:37-41 and is recited every morning and evening by traditional Jews.
Like Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5, it doesnât matter what a grandparent or parent believes, YOU need to believe. You donât get into heaven on the coattails of others.
How do we pass on our faith to the next generation? We read in Deuteronomy 6:6-7 âAnd these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.â
Jesus charges us in Matthew 28:19-20 âGo therefore and make disciples of all nations⊠teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.â
Join with Me to Spread the Gospel
This post is a modified version of a devotional from my upcoming devotional book.
As millions of kids, teens, and young adults face a world that is rapidly removing any trace of Judeo-Christian values from the culture, there is still hope to reach them.
The Gospel is for all people and throughout all time.
You can help the next generation learn about the Gospel by using Star Wars.
There are valuable lessons that can be learned from Star Wars. My devotional book looks at the live-action Star Wars movies (Episodes I to IX, Rogue One, and Solo) and pull out different lessons and take-a-ways.
If you wish to join me in using Star Wars to share the faith, please consider purchasing the daily devotion I am published in November 2019.
