So certain, are you?

In ESB, Lukeā€™s X-wing has sunk into the swamp, and only the tip of it shows above the surface.

Disheartened, Luke complains, ā€œWeā€™ll never get it out now.ā€

Without missing a beat, Yoda stamps his foot in irritation and rebukes Luke, saying, ā€œSo certain, are you? Always with you, it cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?ā€

When people hear that only perfect people can enter into Heaven, they, like Luke, either become disheartened or deny it.

However, in Luke 18:26-27, we read, ā€œThose who heard it said [how it is difficult for the wealthy to enter Heaven- verse 24-25], ā€œThen who can be saved?ā€ But He [Jesus] said, ā€œWhat is impossible with man is possible with God.ā€

No one can earn or buy their way into Heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes that clear when Paul states, ā€œFor by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.ā€

People need not whine like Luke about the impossibility of getting ā€œout of hellā€ and into Heaven.

Jesusā€™ birth, life, death, and resurrection paid the price for the sins of the world.

We, as believers, need to be like John the Baptist, who, when he saw Jesus in John 1:29a, said, ā€œBehold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!ā€

When we see people trying to ā€œearnā€ their way into Heaven, we can share how it is impossible to do, but there is a way that a person can get into Heaven.

Jesus told us in John 14:6 that He ā€œis the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except throughā€ Him.
