In ESB, Lukeās X-wing has sunk into the swamp, and only the tip of it shows above the surface.
Disheartened, Luke complains, āWeāll never get it out now.ā
Without missing a beat, Yoda stamps his foot in irritation and rebukes Luke, saying, āSo certain, are you? Always with you, it cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?ā
When people hear that only perfect people can enter into Heaven, they, like Luke, either become disheartened or deny it.
However, in Luke 18:26-27, we read, āThose who heard it said [how it is difficult for the wealthy to enter Heaven- verse 24-25], āThen who can be saved?ā But He [Jesus] said, āWhat is impossible with man is possible with God.ā
No one can earn or buy their way into Heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes that clear when Paul states, āFor by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.ā
People need not whine like Luke about the impossibility of getting āout of hellā and into Heaven.
Jesusā birth, life, death, and resurrection paid the price for the sins of the world.
We, as believers, need to be like John the Baptist, who, when he saw Jesus in John 1:29a, said, āBehold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!ā
When we see people trying to āearnā their way into Heaven, we can share how it is impossible to do, but there is a way that a person can get into Heaven.
Jesus told us in John 14:6 that He āis the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except throughā Him.
