In Rogue One, when the insurgents attacked the stormtroopers in Jedha City, Cassian and Jyn were caught up in the action.
While pinned down in an alleyway, Jyn shoots a K2 droid. A moment, later K-2SO steps around the corner, and Cassian states, “I thought I told you to stay on the ship.”
K2-SO quips back, “You did, but I thought it was boring, and you were in trouble.”
A grenade sails towards K2-SO, and he catches it without looking and throws it back towards a group of stormtroopers and finishes his thought by telling Cassian, “There are a lot of explosions for two people blending in.”
As believers, we should not be “blending in” with the world.
Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.”
Jesus continued in Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
There is no hiding salt or light.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to stand out. Not for personal or selfish reasons.
Verse 16 shows that we are to stand out so that the world will see our good works AND then give glory to our heavenly Father.
What are ways that we can stand out today so that God can receive the honor and glory?
