He said I could get right by myself.

In Rogue One, during his interrogation by Saw Gerrera, Bodhi Rook, the former Imperial cargo pilot, tells Saw that Galen Erso sent him to find Saw and deliver a hologram message.

Bodhi left his life as an Imperial pilot and the relative safety of serving in the Empire to become a wanted man and join the Rebellion against the Empire, all because of what Galen told him.

He said I could get right by myself. He said I could make it right, if I was brave enough and listened to what was in my heart. Do something about it.

Bodhi’s life would never be the same. The moment he listened to Galen and left the Empire to deliver Galen’s message, his life was put on a new trajectory.

In 2 Kings 5, we read about Naaman, a captain of the king of Aram and a leper.

He made a captured Israelite girl his wife’s slave. The slave girl told his wife that there was a prophet that could heal him.

With the King of Aram’s blessings, letter, and tribute, Naaman went to see the King of Israel. Eventually, Naaman meets with the prophet Elisha.

In verse 10, “Elisha sent a messenger to him[Naaman], saying, ‘Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you, and you will be clean.'”

Naaman is furious with these instructions since he thought, “He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.”

Did he think Elisha would use a Jedi gesture?

Listening to his servant, Naaman agreed to do as Elisha instructed and was cleansed.

By listening to simple instructions, both Bodhi and Naaman experienced life-changing results.

How will our lives change if we follow the simple instructions given to us by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20?
