While training Luke about the Force, Obi-Wan uses a technique we see Yoda use in AOTC. He puts a helmet on Luke and tells him, “This time, let go your conscious self and act on instinct.”
Chuckling, Luke tells him, “With the blast shield down, I can’t even see. How am I supposed to fight?” With a sly smile, Obi-Wan replies, “Your eyes can deceive you. Don’t trust them.”
As believers, we need to let go of our fleshly way of thinking (Romans 12:2) and begin to live a life built on faith.
If we do so, we can be like the one mentioned in Hebrews 11:6b, “for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”
When we rely on seeing to believe, we are too much like “Doubting” Thomas. In John 20:29, “Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'”
When we seek out spiritual things, it will require perseverance.
The good news is that we read in Scriptures like James 1:12 that “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.”
Similarly, when we read Matthew 7:7, we see that Jesus told His disciples, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. “
There is a difference between blind faith and walking in faith. Blind faith asks no questions and believes only what one is told. Walking in faith is active. This kind of faith will continue to seek God and a closer relationship with Him by asking questions and waiting to hear the answers.
What kind of faith do we have?
