I’ve never seen such devotion in a droid before.

After R2-D2 escaped the Lars’ homestead, Luke and C-3PO set off early the next morning to find him.

Shortly after finding the droid, the Sand People attack. As the Sand People rummage through Luke’s speeder, Obi-Wan appears and scares them off.

Obi-Wan tells a semi-conscious Luke, “The Jundland Wastes are not to be traveled lightly. Tell me, young Luke, what brings you out this far?”

Luke replies to Obi-Wan, “Oh, this little droid! I think he’s searching for his former master. I’ve never seen such devotion in a droid before.”

R2-D2 was on a mission and had a message to share. He did not let being captured by Jawas or sold to Owen Lars keep him from carrying out his mission and sharing the message given to him with the intended recipient.

In Matthew 28:19-20, we were all given a mission and a message to share. Jesus said to His disciples, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Are we sharing the Gospel and all that Jesus commanded?

Are we devoted to living out what we have been charged?

It would be nice to say that we all live it out constantly. That would not be the case.

As Star Wars fans, we freely share quotes and talk about scenes from the movies. What if we shared Scripture as freely and easily as we do Star Wars?

How can we share the Gospel today?

I've never seen such devotion in a droid before.
