Beckett, Qi’Ra, Han, and Chewie need a ship to do the Kessel run.
They turn to Lando Calrissian.
After haggling over what percentage of the take Lando will receive, they settle on 25%.
That is until they find Lando’s ship in the impound lot. Beckett agrees to free the ship for a 5% deduction in Lando’s take. Lando says to Beckett, “I don’t like it. I don’t agree with it. But I’ll accept it.”
Often, we do not get what we want and think we are “forced” to settle for less.
The problem with settling for something is that we often miss out on the full life of abundance that Jesus promised us in John 10:10 when He said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
The NASB translates 3 John 1:2 as “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”
He was praying that not only are they in good health physically and spiritually but in ALL RESPECTS. The word in Greek, πάντων, means “all, the whole, every kind of.”
James reminds us in 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
As believers, we are children of God, and in Luke 11:11-13, Jesus tells us, “What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
God is all-knowing and will give us what is best for us if we listen to His still, small voice and if we actively wait on Him as we are told in Isaiah 40:31.
