Mom, You Say That The Biggest Problem In This Universe Is That Nobody Helps Each Other.

In The Phantom Menace, Anakin brought Qui-Gon and company back to his home before the sandstorm arrived. Anakin then introduced them to his mother, Shmi. Soon, it was revealed that Qui-Gon and company were on an important mission to Coruscant.

As Anakin hears more about their situation, he volunteers to help them without question. His mom is more than a little hesitant.

Anakin tells her, “Mom, you say that the biggest problem in this universe is that nobody helps each other.”

Jesus tells His disciples in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

The early believers took the command very seriously; see Acts 2:45-47, 4:32, and 20:35.

During the New Testament era, there were no government programs to care for the poor, widows, or orphans. These programs came into being when the church stopped being the church.

There are many Scripture verses that talk about how we are to care for one another.

Read the following verses and write out how one could live two or three of them out in life today.

Proverbs 14:31.
Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.

Proverbs 28:27.
Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.

Matthew 5:42.
Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

Luke 6:38.
give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Galatians 2:10.
Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

1 Thessalonians 5:14.
And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.

James 1:27.
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
