The entire star fleet couldn’t destroy the whole planet.

In A New Hope, shortly after the Millennium Falcon emerges from hyperspace, it runs directly into a meteor shower.

Obi-Wan claims that the Empire has destroyed Alderaan.

A disbelieving Han Solo says, “The entire star fleet couldn’t destroy the whole planet. It’d take a thousand ships with more firepower than I’ve…”

While the power to destroy a planet is beyond our comprehension, there is something even more powerful — the Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”

We are told in 2 Peter 3:7, “But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.”

The world we live in will perish one day. The Word of God will never pass away.

It is incumbent upon us to take the Word of God seriously. We ought to read it often and with care.

The B.I.B.L.E. can stand for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Scripture provides us with what we need to know and accept before we die and leave this world.

We need to know and accept that Jesus is God’s Son and came to save us from our sins, as explained in John 3:16.

Will we honor God today by reading His word consistently?
