Will he finish what he begins? Asked Yoda

In talking to the Force ghost of Obi-Wan, Yoda wonders about Luke’s commitment level, asking, “Will he finish what he begins?”

He questioned Luke’s commitment because, through the Force, Yoda could look in on Luke. Yoda noticed that Luke always looked ahead and “never his mind on where he was, what he was doing.”

Many of us start things and never finish them. Why?

Most of the things we do not finish are because we did not make it a habit or lost sight of why we were doing them. In other words, we lost our FOCUS, an acronym meaning “Follow One Course of action Until Success.”

We have made it a habit to start projects, but have we made it a practice to finish?

Habits require repetition. When we begin a new routine, it starts because we do that action day after day, night after night, like brushing our teeth.

When we lose our “why,” we let things end prematurely. We lose motivation and go with “good enough” instead of completed.

We can finish when we are selective in what we plan on doing. We can finish when you schedule our time and energy, or write out why we are doing it.

Additionally, if we track what we have done and celebrate small wins, it can inspire us.

Remember that Qui-Gon told a young Anakin, “Your focus determines your reality.”

God is not done with us.

Philippians 1:6 reminds us that we can be “confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Thankfully, our Heavenly Father has enough focus. He is One who completes what He starts.

God will never leave or forsake us; see Deuteronomy 31:6 and Matthew 28:20.
