May the Force be with you

In eight of the 11 live-action Star Wars movies, the phrase “May the Force be with you,” or a variation was used as a farewell phrase or a good luck charm.

In ANH, General Dodonna tells the Rebels, “Man your ships! And may the Force be with you!”

In ESB, Luke says the phrase to Lando and Chewie as they are about the go search for Han.

In ROTJ, Admiral Ackbar wishes the Force is with them as they begin their assault on the Second Death Star.

In TPM, as a young Anakin is getting ready for the pod race, Qui-Gon tells him, “May the Force be with you.”

In ATOC, when Anakin leaves with Padme for Naboo, Obi-Wan’s farewell is “May the Force be with you.”

In ROTS, as Obi-Wan and Anakin say goodbye to each other for the last time as friends, they say to one another, “May the Force be with you.”

In Rogue on, JynJyn says to her band of Rebels, “May the Force be with us.”

In TFA, Leia says, “May the Force be with us” to Rey at the movie’s end.

Believers are not to use the Lord’s name in vain.

This includes using it as a good luck charm, throw-away phrase, or by shorting it to OMG.

Exodus 20:7 instructs, “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.”
