You see the same eyes in different people.

In TFA, Han, Finn, and Rey visit Maz Kanata.

They discuss how Han has been avoiding the fight and needs to go home to Leia. When Rey asks about which fight Maz is referring to, Maz tells her it is the fight "against the dark side."

Maz continues, saying, "We must face them [the First Order]. Fight them. All of us."

Maz's words upset Finn, who cannot see a way to win against the First Order. Maz then climbs up on the table, looks at Finn, and says, "If you live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people. I'm looking at the eyes of a man who wants to run."

People may be different, but the sins that entangle us are not much different than those of prior generations.

When we look back at some of the people mentioned in Hebrews 11, the "Hall of Faith," we see people that did not always make the best choices.

Abraham is mentioned in Hebrews 11:8, but he lied multiple times, as we see in Genesis 12:11-13 and 20:1-2.

Hebrews 11:23-24 mentions Moses, yet he was a murderer, as we read in Exodus 2:11-15.

The writer of Hebrews asks in 11:32, "And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets?"

We could list their sins as well. Even though they committed sins we still commit today, they are written about because of their faith and trust in God.

People today are no better or worse than these "Bible greats." What they had, we can have — a deep and meaningful relationship with the Almighty. We only need to admit we are sinners, confess our sins, turn from them, and trust in His forgiveness through Christ Jesus.
