Having just saved Queen Amidala, Qui-Gon tells her, “The situation here is not what it seems. There is something else behind all this, Your Highness.”
Qui-Gon knew that something more was happening than what the eye sees.
What the Trade Federation was doing did not make sense.
There is plenty that our eyes cannot see nor our minds make sense of.
What does Scripture tell us?
Ephesians 6:12 tells us “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
1 Peter 5:8 shares the following warning and imagery, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
Our true adversary is not a person, governments, nor politicians. Our adversary is the devil, the accuser of the believer.
We should not rush to see the Devil behind every corner, but it is realistic to believe that the decline in our society is not happenstance.
The Devil is working through the hearts of men, through politics, through governments, to bring about his desired plans for this world.
What are those plans?
To devour the believer and push them away from God.
What are things that are happening in our lives that do not make sense?
Could these things be the results of our own sin or because of someone else’s sin?
Or could this be the work of the devil?
We do know that God is in control of everything but throughout Israel’s history, God allowed things to happen to His people, Israel.
God is ultimately in control of everything.
Sometimes God acts specifically in history, and sometimes God withholds His hand of protection and allows things to happen.
